You can add the little colored marshmellows right at the end. Or you can add some fruity pebbles for color. The best is first adding melted butterscotch chips on top, letting that set in the refrigerator and then adding melted chocolate chips.
If you are melting chocolate, you can use the microwave, but only in increments of 15 seconds, and stir each time you take them out. If you burn chocolate its very bad, and smells awful. Have fun and good l uck !

Melt the chocolate chips in a double broiler and then pour them over the top of the rice crispy treats. You can add sprinkles to them if you put chocolate on top of them.

My wife gets white chocolate from the craft store and food coloring to match the occasion. She melts the white chocolate and adds coloring and pours it on or dips thet treats in it. Also you can use cookie cutters to make holiday shapes

Directions:

In large saucepan, cook corn syrup and sugar over medium heat, stirring frequently, until mixture begins to boil. Remove from heat. Stir in peanut butter.

Mix in cereal. Press in buttered 9x13 pan. Melt chocolate and butterscotch chips over hot (not boiling) water, stirring constantly until smooth. Spread over cereal mixture. Chill until firm, about 15 minutes. ENJOY!

I'm not sure I'm pretty sure you melt it, you might be able to add marsh mellow to it.
