It is like insurance. It is a numbers game. They base their overall price on an average consumption. They count on most people eating less than what they pay for. By mass producing the food, they get volume discounts. Then they charge enough to make up for the loss of uneaten food as well as the occasional big eater that takes more than the cost would merit.

In all reality, you can buy a weeks worth of grocerys for a family of three with what it costs to go to the buffet. Also, the rolls- cheap and filling- thats why they give them to you when you first get there.

Most likely because they buy allot of food in bulk so its cheaper and the idea all you can eat is a lil false you end up with more on your plate than you can eat and you paid 10 bucks people go in groups just think how much they make a day...

Umm...people pay money and eat all they want. You know most buffect food is probably industrialized instead of fresh. So of course its all you want. So thats why buffet food can be so cheap and then you can get all you want.

It depends on the types of foods they serve. Salads and veggies like lettuce, macaroni salad, and potato salads are very cheap to make. They often offer soup and bread. again very cheap. You don't eat the amount of food as the cost of the meal. Also drinks are more expensive.

Also, children never eat the cost of their meal.
