You very well may be a victim. Microsoft will still make you pay for an genuine version, unless maybe you tell them exact details about how you got the version you have so they can go after the people who gave it to you.

Logically, I am trying to figure out how your computer can distinguish between real or conterfeit. If it is properly developed software then it will run. If Microsoft has encoded it's software with special keys to allow you to communicate with Microsoft then maybe the key would be in question but not the program.
Conterfeiters only copy official software. They don't redesign it. Conterfeit software would run but getting help from the manufactor would be a problem because the key would have been previously issued and not match your ID. Try again!

Ugh. I hate to be a bearer of bad news, but my computer just had this virus & no matter what antivirus antispam tool I used could not find the damn thing. I ended up having to backup my documents and wipe it clean and reinstall everything, which really isn't as bad as it sounds. It only took a few hours, and my computer works great and I got rid of a lot of junk that didn't really need to be on there. Make sure to get instructions on how to do this either through your manual or your operating system's website (Microsoft Windows, Linux, etc.) and that you understand them before you start! Then once you have finished and your computer is once again operational put a better protection program on it. I use a McAfee bundle which has spamkiller, antivirus, antiabuse and firewall. Good luck!
