This often happens if the kitten was taken away from the mother too soon. Kneeding is other sign of a kitten being way from its mother too soon.

My cat does the exact same thing. His mother was killed when he was only 2 weeks old so he adopted my dog as his snuggle. He latches on and kneads her belly...she seems to actually like it. So very cute.
Don't know why yours is doing it but hey, obviously they are good together. Go with it a smile!

I have a dog that has nursed many kittens, but she won't admit to it. Everytime you go out on to the back patio where she lays with the kittens she will jump up and have that " I wasn't doing anything" look to her but one time we busted her cold. She didn't have enough time to jump up before we got out there and she had kittens hanging off of her teats. So much for denial. We even got pictures!!

This is a sign that the cat was taken away from its mother too soon. But I wouldn't worry about it....as long as your dog is putting up with it, it's not harming either one of 'em:)

When kittens are weaned(taken away) from their mothers too soon, they will usually substitute someone/thing else for this maternal figure. If your dog is O.K. with it, don't worry about.
