hormones are chemical so things like fear (adrenaline) puberty (testosterone) are hormonal but nerves conduct electrical impulses from the brain. So the speed of nervous control is far higher but the duration is much shorter also nervous control is a type of conscious control while hormonal control is not

Hormones are chemicals carried in blood all around body, so although it may act in the kidney for example (ADH), it will be everywhere. Like a public announcement at a football match for Mr Smith to call his wife, everyone hears it.
