For American English speakers it is undoubtedly the easiest. The characters are the same and form the same sounds. The vowels are only pronounced in the same way, every time. Many words are the same. You hear it more often than other languages, and thus have the opportunity to use it more often. The grammar rules are far more consistent than English. It is a lovely culture and learning a language is a wonderful intro into the culture.

It's not very hard at all. As long as you are able to disconnect your knowledge of english's mechanics since it is a romance language it is structured differently than English.

Also as a bonus, over time, you'll realise that there are many similarities to all the romance languages so it would make it easier to pick up other romance languages like French, Italian, and Portuguese later on down the road.

Spanish isn't that bad, once you learn the alphabet, you are on the path. In the same way you speak Spanish you read it and you write it. Spanish isn't like English, that you write a word in one way, but you have to say it in another, or if someone tells you a word there are more than one way to write it, ex: Sean, Chun, Shun, Chaun, Shaun. I'm from Puerto Rico and if you have any question about it feel free to contact me any time.

Here's something for you to begin with:

Adios, nos hablamos mas tarde.

No cheating!

Spanish is a relatively easy language to learn because it has "rules" that ALWAYS apply, for spelling and pronunciation.
Learning English as a second language is much harder because the "rules" rarely apply!
Good Luck!!

If you're in the US, it will be easier (not necessarily easy) because there will be more opportunities for you to use it (practice). The easiest way to learn any language is to be immersed in it (live someplace where that's all they speak), so if you look for opportunities to practice with native speakers, it will be very helpful in mastering it (as opposed to knowing a few key words and phrases).

With millions of people being able to speak spanish, efficiently and with ease, I find it particularly hard to claim that it is. But looking at your question - noting how hard it is for you to even spell it- I presume it will not come easily to you. But rest assured, learning it will help you master it. It is not impossible.

It all depends on your natural talent for the languages. I have a mental bock in this regard, and am totallly worthless in this area.
