It's a very nice camera, but suddenly, when I take pix, they end up looking white washed or washed out. Anyone run into this problem before?

It sounds like your shots are over-exposed. There are only a few specific settings that can cause this.
* Check if the camera is in Manual exposure mode. It should be in (Programmed) Automatic. Or if you prefer, in Aperture priority/ Shutter priotity/ any scene mode. Just not in Manual mode.
* Check if you've set the EV setting to anything bigger than zero. Zero is the default. Anything bigger than zero will force the camera to over-expose, even when you're in Automatic exposure modes.
* If neither of those setting do the trick, check if you've taken the White Balance out of its Automatic mode.

You may want to try resesting the settings on your camera. You may have changed something and not have realized it.
