Intern means you start out in the lowest places and work your way up the ladder. You make coffee today get to sharpen pencils tomorrow and maybe next week you will get promoted to cleaning urinals. Just keep in mind that if your boss becomes a real prick you are the one making the coffee and a few drops of Visine in it will make your boss crap through a key hole at 50 yards. An Intern is a starting position and you just started so sit back and learn if you really want to do that for a living but always remember the Visine.

Good Luck!!

You don't mention in your post whether or not you are a paid intern. As a paid intern, you should be thankful for the opportunity to see what is happening in the office, and since you are being compensated for the work, you should be willing to do what is requested.

If you are not a paid intern, more than likely you are being supervised by a professor, or something of the like. Speak with whoever is supervising the program and let them know that you're disappointed with the way things are working out, but in a manner that's not accusatory. Just say that you feel you are being sent on a lot of personal errands that keep you from getting the knowledge you are seeking about the business. You will probably either be reassigned or the supervisor of the program will speak with the company and help out with your getting the experiences you are there for.

in the film world, most directors you see today started as 'runners' or tea people... you have to work your way up!! nothing is going to be given to you on a platter..go ahead, make the tea.. its only for a short while, soon, someone else will take over your job, and maybe theyll learn what you didnt learn while you were busy complaining

You need to let your boss know how you feel . your boss will more then likely appreciate your being honest with them.
