Just keep the bacteria level down with a mild mouth wash. Then nature will heal it for you. If you use over the counter medications, the healing process will still be about the same.

The chemists often sell

(1) cough lozenges with anaesthetic which can numb your mouth

or (2) children's teething gel which is anaesthetic - this can numb the cut

Alternatives

Suck a clove and get the clove oil onto the cut - this will numb it quite well

Take paracetamol (acetaminophen)

Do nothing and put up with the pain.

keep you're mouth clean and you can use peroxyl, you can get it at wal-mart , that is what I use
