Seriously, even though I am not religious I cannot see how anyone could truly be afaid to go to Hell. Does anyone think about it on a regular basis?

Yes, there are people who live in fear of hell. I know people who have been so brainwashed by the church and by their parents that they are terrified of hell. Frightening kids in this manner is tantamount to child abuse, and ought to be illegal.

Just read some of the answers here. These people have been threatened with eternal damnation, and they truly believe in it. It's very, very sad.

There is no reason to fear hell, a place of fiery torment for sinners doesn't exist. How can people say that a loving God would burn us eternally??? Would you put your child's hand on the stove burner when they disobeyed you?

WHATEVER image the word "hell" brings to your mind, hell is generally thought of as a place of punishment for sin. Concerning sin and its effect, the Bible says: "Through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned." (Romans 5:12) The Scriptures also state: "The wages sin pays is death." (Romans 6:23) Where do we go after death?
Adam "came to be a living soul," says Genesis 2:7. He did not receive a soul; he was a soul—a whole person. The Scriptures speak of a soul's doing work, craving food, being kidnapped, experiencing sleeplessness, and so forth. (Leviticus 23:30; Deuteronomy 12:20; 24:7; Psalm 119:28) Man himself is a soul. When a person dies, that soul dies.—Ezekiel 18:4. When pronouncing sentence upon Adam, God stated: "Dust you are and to dust you will return." (Genesis 3:19) Before God formed Adam from the dust of the ground and gave him life, Adam simply did not exist! When he died, Adam returned to that state of complete absence of life. The condition of the dead is made clear at Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10, where it says: "The dead know nothing . . . In the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom." (New International Version) Scripturally, death is a state of nonexistence. The dead have no awareness, no feelings, no thoughts. Since the dead have no conscious existence, hell cannot be a fiery place of torment where the wicked suffer after death.

Yes! The Scripture plainly states, "But the fearful and unbelieveing and abominable and idolaters and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and all those who loveth and maketh a lie shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone which is the second death"! Revelation 21:8 (I believe. I know it's in Revelation!) If that's not proof positive, I don't know what is!

I don't obsess over it. I am aware of it and sometimes reminded of it. I think of my life while I am physically alive and know that what I do now will determine what happens to those that I come into contact with and also determines whether I go to Hell or Heaven the day I die. Heaven is our biggest reward for following the teachings of Jesus Christ, the word of God, inspired by God, it IS God. Hell is one of our punishments for disobeying God, aside from other punishments that we suffer here on this mid-leveled Hell.

Sure, I fear it the same way I fear intentionally breaking a window and having the homeowner poke his head up and see it was me that broke it. Nobody WANTS negative consequence for things that they've done wrong. I think its not so much the judgement most of us fear, it's that owning up to something you've knowingly done. It's like your boss or a parent suddenly shouting your name and you whince as you turn around to face them and they say, "Did you do this?" knowing full well you had.

Yes. The way to heaven is the narrow gate. Paul the apostle tells us to work out our salvation in fear and trembling. At the same time, we should remain hopeful in the promises of Jesus and rely on His grace - all things are possible with God.

Basically one shouldn't despair that he or she is going to Hell, but at the same time one shouldn't presume that he or she is destined for Heaven - especially because of a one time event where one intellectually assented to the proposition that Jesus is lord and savior. That's necessary but not sufficient. Once-saved-always-saved is not a biblical teaching. One must carry their cross, endure to the end, and be faithful to the gospel. That's a lifetime process.

Anyone who believes in God the way they're suppose to wouldn't fear going to Hell if they love Him. That fear would be reserved for those who know him and refuse to love him, as it's a choice. They have good reason to fear though. In hell the flames will be thousands of times hotter than any fire we'll ever see in life, and they'll feel the pain of it for an eternity.

Your not believing this does not keep it from being the truth...

Revelation 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

If you dont want to end up in hell, Jesus paved the way for all sinners who are lost and living with out Him in ther lives by dying on the cross for your sins. It is the only way to keep from going to hell. The choice is yours.

Yes. Jesus Christ spoke more on Hell than He did Heaven. It is a real place and definately not a place I would like to go.

God made a place for Satan and his followers to go beings they could no longer reside in God's holy Heaven. Those who reject God go to this place also beings they don't want to be with God. Hell will be Satans domain and he will be the little god there he always wanted to be. God doesn't make Hell a place of torture, torment, and evil. It is Satan that does and will do so. It's a place God made. Satan is the one that makes and will make it a living hell.
