I am going into the Navy as an HM (Hospital Corpsman). Why does the recruiter want my high school transcripts? I am 26 years of age with some college credits. Why high school transcripts? He told me that they need it for "C" school. Can anyone help me and tell me why?

I'm not a recruiter but I would say to make sure that you did in fact graduate high school.

It is to verify you graduated HS and didn't receive a GED. They do still look at the two differently . Just because you have some college doesn't mean you graduated high school. Some branches, depending on the career you choose, will not accept you if you don't have a H.S. diploma no matter how much college. I remember when I joined it was no diploma no enlistment, period.

There is a test you must take prior to joining, it is called the ASVAB test (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery).

Anytime you go on for any type of continuing education, they ask for your high school transcripts. It is usually to prove that you are a high school graduate. Not to check the things on your "permanent record" lol

They use those transcripts to verify several things that you say you have done and completed. They are also used to see your attendance and tendencies for illnesses, special interests and all the good stuff you learned and participated in during your high school years.
Good luck to you!

the ASVAB only gives a slight indication of what you know. your High School transcripts will give a better indication, especially in the areas that are of most importance in HM.. the Sciences and Math.

they want actual proof that you graduated from high school, cuz i know of folks who didnt graduate high school, went to community college and was like i m going to take the GED next qtr cuz i hate high school, and never did

if i m not mistaken "C" school is your basic training type deal, and you must be a high school graduate to go, A school is your job speciality school, for your instance HM school, B school would be any folow-on schools if any, say you were to attached to the Marines than you would go to another school to learn how to shoot real weapons

What did you do in high school that you don't want them to know about?

I don't know why he told you it was for your C schools.I would be more inclined to believe they want to use them to verify your educational background and in some instances they are used for security purposes such as verifying residency and checking local records for criminal background.
