If you church leaders say you cannot do anything without their persmission (not even if God says otherwise). You can't make any move without consulting them first. Does it then make church a prison? What if they make rules for you that your supposed to follow that are not anywhere in the word, but use the word to install fear in the people? Why is it when a church leader has issues it's their nakedness & you should accept them, but when it comes to the "no name no title Christian" they are going to hell when they do something wrong? Why is it a person is out of the will of God (even though God told them to leave) when they leave a church? A true "leader" should be proud that a christian learns to get God for themselves? So why aren't they?

Unfortunately, too many people become clergy for the worng reasons, power and money. A good clergyman can make large amounts of maney, and not have to report it. Add that to the fact that society as a whole is conditioning people to obey leaders blindly and working to dissolbve between politics and religion it becomes easy for a clergyman to gain the sort of hold over their parrishioners that you have described. Add to that the fact that in many churches people are suppsoed to blindly accept what theya re told by the clergyman becasue he knows the right way to interpret the bible and the average person doesnt that too many people DON'T question the why or the validity of what is being done and jsut go along with it becasue they have been conditioned not to ask questions, and have been told that question the clergy is the same as questioning God.

The kind of environment you describe is becoming more and more prevalent and such groups are becoming larger and larger. One can only hope that this is simply a passing influence and not the shape of things to come.

NO! It makes that group a CULT-- for sure!

It's not analogous to a prison, because people aren't allowed to leave prisons. In this country you are free to join or leave any church you like. If you don't like having to consult or obey church leaders, then don't join that church.

Now if a church is restraining people in the way a prison does (they can't leave, they're cut off from their families, their finances are confiscated by the church, they are physically restrained by the church, etc) then it sounds more like a cult.

Huh? A church should not be a prison. You are free to worship where/when you want. The organization you're describing sounds highly dysfunctional. In fact, what you're describing doesn't even make sense. Get out, and find someplace that does make sense.

As everyone pretty much has already said, this sounds like a cult to me.
Anything that is against what God has commanded of us, is a sin. He asks us to follow the law of man, but never betray the LAW (the word of God).
Your questions are VERY confusing. The WORD OF GOD is not confusing and if any book considered holy is confusing, then it is NOT holy, but blasphemous and evil.

I don't know what church you go to, but i would leave quickly.Church is a place to praise & worship God, to learn His word, to fellowship with other believers and to learn instruction on how to live the Christian life as well as get a better understanding of scripture and how to apply it to your everyday life. There are many other wouderful things also.

They do not want to leave the monopoly of controlling the minds of the Christians , if they did then every christian would be able to think for themselves and understand the true meaning of god , but by this it will undermine there power

I've been going to church all my life. Never had I experience a church leader in my 2 churches saying that. Not saying it hasn't happend.

Everybody has issues. Church leader or not. just ignore those who are like this. Not all are.

That's a cult, baby. Not a church. Find a church that you can go to and praise God. Cults are dangerous.

What you've described sounds more like a cult. My pastor doesn't have a problem with me making a move without getting permission.
