I thought this was strange because there are so many health benefits of eating natural soy products.
It appears that some soy sauce from the East but not all have been contaminated with 3-MCDP and 1,3-DCP which belong to a group of chemicals known as chloropropanols that are associated with cancer risk.
Their presence in soy sauce is avoidable and most soy sauce is free of these chemicals. See the news clip that was the source of this information.
They are usually produced by the addition of Acid Hydrolysed Vegetable protein to accelerate production.
The Food Standards Agency is issuing information leaflets to communities most affected.
It has also issued a Food Hazard Warning asking local enforcement officers to remove any of the products that may still be on sale.
"Soy sauce can be produced without these chemicals and we expect swift action from the industry to ensure that the planned EU legal limits are met. "

EVERYTHING causes cancer these days...enjoy your soy sauce and don't worry about it. Youn can't live life worrying about everything they say is bad for you...by the same token use caution with stuff like tobacco and alcohol...it's best not to use either of those if you can keep from it.

Thats a first...I thought soy sauce was basically 90% salt and water...but then again nowadays everything causes cancer.

I don't know but it was documented that Red Dye in Lab Rats and Humans causes cancer.

That's a load of c#ap!!!! Don't believe everything you hear. Asians have the lowest levels of cancer and they invented the stuff.
