Muslims follow lunar calender which has got 30 or 29 days per month,depending upon the sighting of the moon.
Ramadan is the month of worship ,people believe.
We offer extra salaath(unique muslim prayer),and we fast from dawn to dusk.
There are many reasons for the fasting. ex:fasting shows you what`s poverty or starvation.

Ramadan start with fasting and fasting start after AL fajar ( the first pray)
to AL Maghreb pray ( the forth pray )
so it start from Sunday morning i guess but to be sure check any Islamic center nearby

It depends on the sighting of the moon on Friday evening or Saturday evening. Whichever day the new moon is sighted..the next will be Ramadan.
