Flax seeds act as a good source of fiber and have a laxative effect if eaten in too much quantity, though your bady can adapt. They have essential oils that your body needs to help digest food more eficiently.
The best way to incoporate it is either substituting Fax Seed oil instead of any other cooking oil (only use 2 tsps a day!) or by putting the seeds them selves in with non-fat yogurt or a fruit smoothy shake (do not add sugar, but a little Splenda is fine).

Ground flax meal (you can get at most grocery stores) is a great source of fiber and Omega-3 fatty acids. I put it in all my muffin recipes and even cake mix sometimes. Flax is very healthy; however, it will not produce instant weight loss by itself. Combined with a healthy diet and lots of exercise, flax is a great source of fiber and supposedly good for mental health.

To lose weight, a person has to reduce the calorie intake by some amount by modifying their diet. A diet without sufficient nutrients will only increase the appetite of the person trying to lose weight. Since most people combine a diet with an exercise plan, additional nutrients are required for the growth of muscles required to increase the metabolic rate required for long term weight loss.
