Every man is different. My boyfriend and I were the best of friends before we started dating and I learned from our friendship that he was not receptive to any sort of conflict if he was emotionally involved. He would shut down and that would be the end of it, well after the fight, that would be the end of it.

I can't say this will work for you, and it might sound gutless to some people BUT... with us, I write him an email or letter stating my feelings and the reason I feel a certain way about the issue. Do not blame or finger point because he'll still get defensive. It works for me and my boyfriend because he knows what the subject is about, he can read the email when he is emotionally available and receptive to it's information then he generally comes to me with some sort of conclusion to the issue.

If this is not a way you're even remotely interested in trying, I would just suggest using "I" statements without issuing blame. Regardless of who's at fault. Nobody likes to be verbally attacked, especially from someone they love.

Don't yell, and don't start things by accusing, or being aggressive. Keep your voice low, and your setting comfortable. If it starts to become a fight, end the conversation, and try again later.

Do it while either sitting on or stroking his dick. You'll have his attention and it is less likely he'll disagree because he won't want you to stop
