When i got her she was 8 weeks old and i found out after the fact that the owner allowed all the puppies and mother go potty in the crate( how disgusting), i would come home to a foul smelling dog and crate. I have accomplished the task of teaching her that is indeed not o k to do your business in her crate, but because i always ask" gotta go potty" and take her directly outside she never really shows me any signs, i e bark, or wait at the door, i have tried to associate the leash with going potty but it just is not working, Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks

My dog was the same way. She was 4month old when I got her and was keep in a room with 9 other puppies. All the dogs just went where every they wanted. I would come home everyday to a mess. I hung a bell on the door I would take her out of. Before I would take her out I would take her nose of paw and have her ring the bell. I took about a week, but she started to hit the bell when she wanted to go out.

I've by no means visible a dog use a potty - i've obvious cats use the bathroom though... Seriously, you need to get the carpet cleaned as it smells like urine. She will hold going the place she has been earlier than. There are chemical sprays you could purchase to get the urine traces out of the carpet however I do not know the us company names. Set a timer for 60 minutes and take her outside at any time when it goes off. Take her to the equal spot in order that it smells right and reward the great effort - some persons find a phrase or word works too "go pee'' or whatever equivalent perhaps. This may increasingly help her 'go' on command later. Have you tried newspaper near the door for her to go on if she can't get out? Put plastic beneath if that is close carpet. Begin off with a number of sheets and then regularly scale back it to one or two. At three 1/2 months she remains to be lovely young so be sufferer just a little bit longer. Good good fortune!

sounds like you got your dog at a puppy mill... dogs will not go in their "den" unless they are sick or neglected - or forced by puppy mill breeders... your baby probably doesn't know any better, but with a lot a patience and praise you can turn this around.
puppies need to be taken out at the same time each day (and at first they go frequently). make a mental note of how long it takes them to go and when they do... give them lots of praise and maybe even a treat. As you walk out the door each time say a key word or phrase... let's go potty or outside to potty... whatever works for you. Be consistant. After a while they'll associtate the key word with the duty and the reward.... good luck

You didn't say how old you pup is now. I can tell you to have patience. If the breeder's pups were going to the bathroom in their crates, that means that the breeder probably had those poor pups in the crates most of the time. Dogs by nature don't bathroom in their crates. They HATE pottying where they sleep or where they consider "their" space. Your pup is confused as to where it's okay for her to potty. So have patience with her. Some breeds are better at potty training that others. Some breeds just take more time to catch on. Take your pup out every couple of hours to begin with. She'll catch on. You sound like a good mommy. But I say this to everyone with a dog. Please take care of that precious pup. She counts on you for everything.

Pay really close attention to her first. Some dogs are vocal, others use their feet, and others always want to carry something. Once you figure out what method will work best for her you will be able to teach and appropriate and compatible indicator. For a vocal dog: bark at the door, foot oriented: ring a bell hung on the door, for a mouthy dog: get a leash off the door. For specifics on the one that will work with your girl feel free to contact.

take her out side don't just put her out & wait. go out with her every hour if you have to when she goes praise her some people give rewards but praise and lots of petty has worked for me, she should get the idea that going outside pleases you and go to the door when she needs to go, also use the same door all the time if you can, she will associate that door with going potty better that way.

Do you work? If so it will take time to get her straighten out.
If your still crate'n her- When you open the crate, DO NOT LET HER WALK OUT...pick her up. If she walks out expect her to go potty.Always carry her outside to the same potty spot. Praise her w/a treat. Maybe a cheese bite.
In time she'll learn to let you no. She's still a baby yet.

The important part is to be consistant. Everytime you take her out say a certain phrase like "Do you want to go outside?" and when you take her out make her really excited by the door. Do not directly tak her out, make her show you that she has to go. When I did this with my dog she would eventually scratch on the door like "Lets go out already!". Over time she will show you that she has to go. My dog sits by the door now when she has to go. Just make sure you use the same phrase everytime and to praise her when she is going with the same phrase also.

Just pay attention to the time she was last out. Take her about every 2 to 3 hours.
Works with my dog. He doesn't show signs that he needs to go either.
