If there is a one true religion, then how come it has not appeared in two isolated spots? Religion seems to me to be something spread by culture and how you are raised. How come one cannot become a Christian unless you meet a Christian and are conditioned to become one?

If the word never reaches you, you cannot be saved. That is why it is our responsibility as Christians to spread the word to the far reaches of the world.

Why are there so many religions? God gave us free will...that is the power to question, doubt, and reason. If we can do all those things, then we must have FAITH. That is the only way into Heaven. We must CHOSE to believe. If everyone on the planet knew it to be true, then there would be no point in having faith.

Do you need to have faith that the sun will come up tomorrow morning? - No, because you know it to be true. Faith is the belief in something that may or may not be true. You must make your choice, and have faith in your decision.

Religion is cultural as well as spiritual. It is the same reason why one cannot speak a certain language unless that person is conditioned to speak it and exposed to it repeatedly.
Of course there are different religious beliefs all over the world. That's why most of the wars in history have been waged. Everyone wants to think their religion is the right one.

There is no one true religion, God has never asked humans to belong to a religion, religion for the most part is confusing, controlling, sometimes violent and in some cases vary evil, I believe religion will be the down fall for mankind, eventually mankind will see the destruction religion has brought upon all human societies, I believe that's when God will intervene and destroy religious philosophy that is destroying our societies today, people are so caught up believing in myths fantasies Gods that don't exist a bible that has more controversy than we can comprehend the bubble is about to pop and I say God help us all when that happens.

It can be a true religion but people Ideals and opinions vary. Peace maybe the best thing in the world but not everyone wants that and that goes with love and wealth. Not everyone agrees on the same things and religions are no different. One religion might appeal more to people. It maybe hard for people to believe that there is a supreme being pulling the things and others may think its a good idea. Plus who makes their religion true. I'm catholic and think that that is the best and true way but there are muslims who feel the same about being sunni and other who belive that being shiite is the right path.

I was orginally rasied a catholic. I am now a born again Chrsitian. God led me to His son Jesus by way of a young man witnessing on a street corner, and I praise Him for that. There will come a day when every corner of this world will have had the chance to hear the true word of God. It will be their choice to either accept it or reject it. God does not want anyone that does not come to Him of there own free will.
It doesn't matter how you were raised. The truth is out there, and you have a responsibility to yourself to seek it out for yourself, or remain where you are and how you were originally raise, and take the consequences if you weren't taught the truth.

Because religion is simply a code of ethics. It is a DESIGNED cultural practice that tells us what to do because of certain political and survival reasons. All religions act as a secondary bill of rights and duties enforced by guilt and at some times fear and violence.
At one point in culture, someone thinks that there should be marriage, so that children can exist and religious knowledge be transmitted. At that point they decide that marriage is necessary for this.
So they tell tales about marriage and the sacred institution it is, and then culture is changed to adopt this belief.
Don't lie to yourself, religion is man made, and its function is to lead us monkeys into a perceived path.

My 'religion' is atheism and thus is universaly distributed. Indeed the wonder of atheism is that one does not have to meet another atheist in order to "be saved" but can arrive at ones possition by pure reason.

Aside from that I think that you are being disengenuous in that you fail to consider the similarities between religions. e.g. Islam, christianity, judaism have the same root and are also linked with zaroastroism. While hinduism is again at its core monotheistic - (the gods being mere avatars for krishna) thus if we define the 'one true religion' as being 'belief in one' god then this belief is widely spread even though outwardly the claimed religion differs.

Study cultures all around the world and through out history. It is universal in all to search for Spiritual meaning. As many have pointed out on this forum there is a common thread weaving through each of the major and even the non-major belief systems in the world...if you look at the Native American religions, they accepted Christianity easily because they could see the thread weaving through it....

stupid christian who post above me is completely wrong.

religion is a personal thing at best but no religion it any truer than any other religion they are culture based and are not based on any facts once so ever but a belief in a higher power is the main key to most world religions today even i have met some people who are religious without a god complex but with a spiritual awareness complex thats all a person really needs.

We all have to struggle with insecurity, which turns into false
pride. There is no TRUE religion, for man destoys everything in his path. It is the HEART that our Creator judges.
Even the Christian Bible says, "There are those without the Law. Yet, live their lives according to the Law. They are a Law unto themselves."
