"It's a functionality change of the uniform that will improve the ability of Soldiers to execute their combat mission." -SFC so and so who probably read his line off of a cue card.
This is what he meant to say: " SGT Majors say those damn DCU's gettin' everyone killed an' all. Now dat ACU is more better, dem new pockets sure nice for caryin' my cigarettes and my signed copy AR-670-1."

Not sure about your gripe. I've deployed in DCUs and ACUs and am much happier with the ACUs. (nope don't smoke). They fit better, they are more functional and seem to be lasting a lot longer in the mountains here in Afghanistan. As far as your slur on NCOs, bite me. I'll stack my NCO rank up against your punk butt anyday. What some SGT smoke you candy butt once and your still holding a grudge?

I personally think they are sorta sexist. What like we should just give the 11B's permission to look at the chest of every female on post? "I was just lookin at heeer Rank, sgt. *cough*". Plus they wear out a lot quicker or seem to for my husband. He's Airborne and he never wears his ACU's on jumps because they rip so easily. His unit hasn't been issued them yet so he can't afford to buy another pair if he screws his up. Still my gut tells me they are more function than the bdu's and dcu's. Especially with the patches and stuff. A lot easier to keep clean too. Plus his feet do a lot better on ruck marches in dcu boots instead of jump boots.

you must be one disgruntled pfc or spec

they do seem to wear down faster though and my buddy who is a logi guy sees a lot more DXs, but they are pretty functional though, wearing my IBAs I could get to my cargo pockets thats about it. with these i got lots more usable pockets, for example my demo cutting knife is in my calf pocket so when i m prepping demo its always there and if someone wants to use it while i m busy i can tell them to grab it from my leg. and they work pretty well in some types of urban areas, we were conducting an exercise and my unit was crossing an airfield constructing site and even my own commander who was right behind us had trouble seeing our progress.

the velcro cargo pockets cant hold anything bulky without it falling out unlike the buttons of old. and they tend to stickout like sore thumb in the woods. but the belleville boots or 5.11 sneaker bottom soles our freaking amazingly comfortable
