Jesus walked the earth in human form and was forced to face the worst of temptations so He could better understand us as humans and the temptations we go through. He died on the cross to save all of us from past, present and future sins. It doesn't mean you can go out and do terrible things over and over and then ask forgiveness and start all over again. When you repent or ask forgiveness then you must really mean it and be sincere. You go forward being the best person you can be. I ask for forgiveness everyday because I know that some of my thoughts and feelings are not Christ-like. He paid the ultimate price so that we, His children , could have everlasting life.

Questions about Jesus, or Questions designed to convert or recruit people to Jesus (or even away from Jesus for that matter)are simply a waste of time. People have already decided for the most part if they believe in the fiction written in the bible. People who feel God talks to them have psychological problems because hearing voices is a psychological illness. All the major world religions have issues like this.

Uhh i can tell that your not religious.
We don't need to earn our forgiveness god gives it away freely. We shouldn't (i can't say don't cuz i know some christians do) be proud of ourselves becuz thats pride and being selfish. We don't have to live up to him becuz it (by it i mean the bible) says that the best people have the rightousness of a filthy rag.
Jesus died on the cross becuz he took our sin becuz he died living a perfect life without sinning once. We die becuz we have sinned so when jesus died a physical death he took all the sins with him becuz he had none of his own...
You should read up on the crusifixion some time.

Deeds and works are good when they are done out of compassion and they come from the heart. But when works are done merely as to be seen by others, or to "buy" our way to heaven, it is useless. Even Jesus told the haughty, high-minded, so called Godly folks (Pharasees) that they did their works before man, for the purpose of being seen, and that God would not acknowledge. Christ died for a sacrifice of sin, all sin. That includes arrogance. Christ said the meek shall inherit the earth.

No, He died so that we could have victory over death, the grave, and Hell! These cycles that you speak of are things that man allows himself to fall into when he steps away from the light of God's grace because some tragedy happens to them or someone they loved/held in high regard. How easily we forget that we as INDIVIDUALS are responsible for our salvation according to God's Word! We step out into the world and suddenly can no longer bear the weight of it and decide to "fall off" and give up when His Word promises that "My yoke is easy and my BURDEN is light"! Doctrine, dogma whatever you choose to call it didn't fail! MAN failed by creating his own view of God through his refusal to conform or his laziness in showing himself "approved" unto God! "A workman needeth NOT be ashamed, RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD OF TRUTH"! If religion could be stripped away from salvation, we'd all be better off for God's Word is all we really need! But once again, these "cycles" and performances" are fueled by MAN'S desire to justify himself by his OWN ACTIONS instead of what "thus saith the Lord"!

Our works or deeds-is not what's going to get us to heaven. It's the heart in which we do it with. We will be judged by our individually hearts not by deeds. You will never be good enough because all have sinned and fall short of the glory--but if your heart everyday is to be the best for Christ that you can be--then you're on your way!!!

Jesus was persecuted by the old-school Jews because he was a new-school Jew saying the old school ways were wrong and not God's ways. This was blasphemous and he was killed for it. Jesus' teaching was that God is not something to worship or to fear but God is in all of us and we must let him breathe through us. God is the ground of all being, the source of life and the source of love (words of Bishop John Shelby Spong). Unfortunately, Jesus has been made into an idol and many worship him, whereas he taught us to not worship anything- just to be as perfect as we can. His message was that our human goal isn't reverence, it's holy living.
This is why generations have failed to bring peace to earth, because we remain sinful and go to the ceremonies you speak of to wash away our guilt for living so imperfectly.

I personally think that Jesus would be disappointed in all of the pageant that revolves around Christianity. Jesus was an outsider. He didn't participate in being a rabbi, although he was considered to be a great one, he was always among those that society dejected, and he went against some of the Jewish laws of the time, such as working on the sabbath (he did a healing). He was a non-conformist so he could stick to his own beliefs and integrity.

It is not about performance or church service. It is about how and why you live your life. What your motives are. Feeling proud and having other Christians look up to us may feel good, but we really are supposed to strive to be like Christ. So, the work is never finished.

You keep using the pronoun "we". Indicating you are including yourself in your references of Christians, so as a Christian you already know the answer. Jesus died on the cross because it was what his destiny was. Jesus's death has nothing to do with the services (are you referring to church services, or acts of goodness). Christians don't go to church to please God, they go to "congregate" as a group of people with the same beliefs to learn from one another, pray with one another and fellowship together. The only thing Christians strive "to live up to" is bettering themselves, because as Christians we know perfection is unattainable, and becoming better HUMAN BEINGS, not just "good Christians", is a life long and ongoing commitment.
