From my view here your points are credible only if you place them on all. Really sit back and do not take part just read for a few days and it is not just one side or the other it is both....I think the forum may be doing it's job as I think we have many young (immature does not mean the same thing, thank you) participants who are just trying to solidify their views and opinions. The danger is that they (both sides) are being very closed and only looking for support of their view....the so called independent thinking really is not that at all if you would really sit back and just watch and keep track of the answers that many people give.
Everyone has a right to express their opinions. You say "I have seen a lot of religious people get annoyed when atheists etc reply to religious questions in the religion section of this website." Then you say "If this is true, then should religious people be limited to the religion forum where they can indulge their fairy tales and leave the real questions to people who are able to think independently?" What this says is if you do not believe with me then stay out of the answers....is that not what you are saying the religious folk feel also...

why should religious people be limited to the religious forum..?? religion isn't the only thing religious people think about.(shocking, I know!) I, for one, think independently on a daily basis...on multiple subjects, even... (imagine that!) I have taken the vast amounts of information I was given throughout my life and made my very own decision about my religious beliefs... no one has brainwashed me into thinking a certain way... I believe what I believe because I know in my heart that it's what's right for me... some may think I believe in a "fairy tale", well, that's their problem... not mine.. If my "fairy tale" is right and they are wrong.. how sad will that day be when they finally figure it all out....but... it's just a little too late for them.??

So you are a deep thinker are you sir?? I say to you that by reason of definition there is no such thing as an atheist... to make that declaration sir you would have to posses all knowledge in the universe. Thomas Edison, genius and inventor after years of study and knowledge seeking concluded by saying and I quote, "man doesn't know one one millionth of everything there is to know. What about you sir, do you claim to know everything in the universe? Well let me minister this simple little "atheist test" to you. Relax its only 2 questions: 1 How many hairs are their on the back of a full grown Tibetan yak. and 2 How many granules of sand are there on all the combined beaches in the world? I think I can safely assume that you in fact do not know everything in the universe sir. For the sake of argument though sir lets say that you know an astounding 1 whole percent of everything that there is to know in the universe. Do you think that somewhere within the other 99 percent of all knowledge in the universe that you have not yet come across, that there could be ample evidence for the existence of GOD??? If you are reasonable you would have to agree with what I ve just proposed... if not than you have proved that your position against GOD is unsubstantiated and the result of biased thinking at best....GOD BLESS YOU AND LEAD YOU INTO ALL TRUTH~

properly, it relies upon on your particular denomination or faith for the "respected" answer. you're suitable, the bible does for sure say that marriage is for all times. a pair of examples: Matthew 19:6 says, "so as that they are actually no longer 2, yet one flesh. What consequently God has joined jointly, permit no guy separate." And, in a million Cor 7:10 "yet to the married I provide instructions, no longer I, however the Lord, that the spouse shouldn't pass away her husband". It looks like Paul is conscious this can't be very huge-unfold, as he for sure factors out that that's God's command. whether, some denominations (including Catholicism) pass away room for "annulments". An annulment does no longer say that the marriage is hereby over, yet that the marriage grew to become into actual on no account actual interior the 1st place. it would desire to be for considered one of a form of motives, however the factor is, if the marriage wasn't ever valid, it would not pass against God's command to split and remarry. case in point, if on the time of the marriage between the companions for sure did no longer view marriage as requiring lifelong constancy, than the marriage would desire to on no account have been actual interior the 1st place. i'd propose conversing with a clergyman or pastor, and fully and truthfully explaining the region. after all, they are going to be waiting to grant you education and help.

I understand only wanting people who share your faith to answer questions posed about it. However, you run the risk of closing yourself off to new ideas by not reading what a believer in a different point of view has to say. All faiths should feel free to respond to all questions -- the forum is "religion and spirituality"; it is not broken down by particular faith/philosophy. As long as the religious person is not proselytizing, I don't mind if they answer questions not directed at them. If they *do* choose to proselytize, I just ignore it.

This is an open forum for all Yahoo! users, so when asking or answering a question, ALL opinions are accepted. Personally, I don't use religion as much of my backing (unless it is a religious question); but due to the first amendment, I support religious answers to nonreligious questions, as long as they are not using religion to belittle the questioner.

Yes. Religious people should answer but they should limit their replies to facts and evidence, not just slogans and propaganda. Religious people should indulge in conversations if they are willing to also pay attention to the replies offered by others, including atheists. It would be most boring if only atheists replied and nothing would be learned from the other side.
Listen, say that you believe in "X" and you are joined by others also believing in the same "X," why is there to learn? All of you already believe in it... so, it would be a bit stale and redundant, wouldn't it, without opposing views? We all learn from one another but the problem lies with those fanatical few (atheists and religious) who do not take the time to learn about the others, and they have misconceptions and and erroneous beliefs of the others.
Let's take this a step further. If you hate people from Mars, wouldn't it be wise to LEARN about them so that you can know what to expect from them? Wouldn't that ensure that YOU do not have more in common than in disharmony? What if you were misled into hating them and they actually believe and stand for everything you do? You'll never know unless you listen to them and learn what they're about, and learn to respect them so they can respect your views.
It's very simple, my neighbors like certain music, I like another. I listen to mine and they listen to theirs. We are not enemies because we believe in different things... that is simply stupid, ignorant and counter-productive to a peaceful co-existence.
You have the right to your opinion and they have the right to your opinion... likewise, you have the right to ignore them as much as they have the right to ignore you, me and anyone they wish... but we also maintain this right!

I see your point... It is only people that answer rudely, or put down your beliefs that I get annoyed with. If you are really explaining what you believe and why then I don't have a problem. But call me names because I don't believe the same as you or insult me because of that... that is what is annoying.

I'm a religious person, and I think independently.
"No basis in logical society" -- LOL. And you're criticizing people for their supposed intellectual inadequacy? I think you're a knee-jerk ignoramus whose teeth would break if he tried to read a philosophical text above freshman level.

who cares how one believes or does not believe ? there is a quest we are all on which is to gain wisom and knowledge through learning from each other. if we all believed the same way there would be no reason to discuss various topics at all. by the diversity in our thoughts and learning processes we advance in our quest for wisdom and knowledge. discussion and not arguement is the key to achieving this goal.
