It is the best thing ever!!!! After wearing glasses/contacts for 25 years I really didn't know what it was like to be able to "see". I couldn't even see that big letter E without squinting! My vision is now 20/20 and I love being able to wake up and actually see the time on my alarm clock!!! It is so easy and sooooo worth it! Go for it and good luck!

I had lasik about 5 years ago. My eyes were very very bad with strong astigmatism. The sugery itself is very quick, absolutely painless and I could see as soon as I sat up on the table. The evening of the surgery the stuff that numbs your eyes wears off. Nothing hurts, but your eyes water like crazy & itch like nothing you'd believe (and you can't scratch). Thankfully that stops after a few hours. You have to sleep with eye goggles for awhile so you don't scratch your eyes snuggling into your pillow and you can't wear make up for a week or so. The lasik gave me perfect eye sight for about a year afterwards. Currently I wear a light prescription, but im 38 and they did tell me that as I got older I might need reading glasses. I'm happy with the results. At least now I can roll over at night and actually read the clock. And my new glasses are so lightweight compared to the Coke bottle lenses I used to have.

Lasik Eye Surgery is very safe nowadays. It is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges Eye surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.
I have also read that they arrange financing for American and Canadian patients, as dental surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor I personally believe that your surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
My cousin got her Dental and Lasik Surgery in India through the forerunners healthcare .She is more than very happy with the results. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company. Hope this helps

I had it done 4 yrs ago. I was afraid to do it after my brother did it, and swore Id never have it done.
Well, I did, and I could see 20/15 immediately. It was cool. It was fast...it was worth it. The great thing is my insurance paid for all of it...which was a miracle.
I am so glad I had it done, BUT Id research the doctor youre thinking about doing it.
I love the fact that I dont wear glasses anymore.

There are two types that I know of:
- I had Corneal Shaping two months ago. It hurt for two days (burned) and the results are only so-so in my case. My vision is not perfect although I don't need glasses anymore. It may still get better according to the doc and if I am "under-corrected" I can get it done again to shoot for perfection.
- My wife had the Corneal "Flap" four years ago. She had perfect vision from day one and continues to!
If I had to do it over again I would go with the flap.

I have a close friend who had this done a few months ago and the results are really amazing. While I am not a doctor, I would suggest you talk to a qualified doctor about it and if you need it really take a good look at it. It might really save your vision. For some information, take a look at this page.

My Dad had it last year with fantastic results. He was legally blind and now doesn't have to wear glasses at all. I would consider it if I had the money. They do one eye at a time (different days) just in case they make a mistake! It is a safety net but it makes it scarier!

i was concidering it when i whent to the optometrist and she said that my eyes were too good for lasic, i was surprised, but she said, most lasic doctors will tell you that you need it when you dont and they can end up "over correcting" the problem, resulting in eye troubles, latter on. Go to an eye doctor who doesnt do lasick, to get a true opinion. lasic is a great thing if you truley need it. i thought i did, but i guess not.
