Did you get it all out? It may have been dirty and infected your foot. You probably should soak it in hot salt water or epsom salts and then bandage with a good salve like neosporin or bacitracin. If it is infected it will have a swollen red ring around the sight of penetration.

It's sore because you stuck a pretty blunt object on the bottom of your foot and then walked on it. It could be infected, or it could just be normal from stepping on a stick of wood.

I stepped on one yesterday too...Said a few choice words and pulled it out. My foot is a little sore today nothing to bad. I can walk on it. I'm guessing your foot is just really sore.

i trod on one once and it broke in my foot the doctor said i had pulled it out and it would be ok,a year later a lump formed on the top of my foot and it was the cocktail stick it had worked its way thru my foot, had it removed under a local anaesthetic ,you will be ok you have only bruised your foot soak it in hot water, since i did mine i have trodden on a number of awful things including a needle.that went right in and had to be pulled out with pliers.you wont get a blood clot tho .

you could have developed and infection, staph has been very strong lately. If you see redness around the puncture, and the soreness increases, you should consider seeing a doctor.
