Definitely it was the calf that 'discovered' cow's milk. Some human who watching it got the inspiration to try it.,
Seriously, there are references to cow's milk in Vedas that are 3000-4000 years old.

I saw this same question on Brainiac on the BBC, is that where you got it from?
Anyway, cow's milk originated in the Middle East, probably by someone who was dying of thirst and saw one baby cow drinking from the mommy cow and decided that he needed that drink too.
Maybe he made the connection that baby humans drink human milk and baby cows drink cow milk, what's the diff, yo?
Or maybe, it was a SHE! Females have been known to become thirst in the middle of deserts just as much as men.
