Hey, you didn't do too badly here. Several Christians who replied pointed out correctly that the key is faith. Usually you get very little of that, and instead get the idiotic responses:
"you're a fool", Bible quotes, "it's obvious", "you can't prove it's not true", ad nauseum.
Congratulations to the Christians who responded with faith.
Shame on the rest of you.

Actually there are more copies of what was written of the Bible from that time than Plato's work. Yet we take Plato's work at face value. Why not the Bible that has more copies that we can compare against and see where any transcription issues took place?
You weren't there when Plato, Aristotle, Darwin, etc wrote their books. I mean you really cannot prove any of it. It is just hearsay.

This question shows the ignorance of many people who lack true reasoning ability.
Archeology and modern sociology have indeed proven many stories, places, names recorded in the Bible.
Your question is born in circular logic, you say that a Christian can not believe what some one wrote 2000 years ago, why then can a non-christian believe what was written 200 years ago. Or conversely, how can a non-Christian NOT believe, you have no proof discrediting the work.
Tell you what.... get a clue, then try again.

The Christians do not believe blindly. They are quite intelligent to attach their lives to the Word of God. No other books of men can be compared to the Bible in the transformative and creative powers.
People who believe in the hearsay or in human writings are not true Christians. People who believe in Big Bang or in evolution are not true scientists. People who bow down before the statues of Buddha and eat vegetables are not true Buddhists.
Religions are not the forms of worship; they are the universal schools for teaching and practicing the Words of the One True God.

No it cannot be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. No i cannot give you any concrete evidence. I f i could you would already have seen it. All i can say is that to believe is to have FAITH in a higher power. I don't think anyone should blindly believe in anything. They should use the brain that God gave them that is why he made us intelligent. The book gives us examples and God gives us rules. Lucifer twists these words and makes them seem like they couldn't possible be true. It all comes down to faith and faith is all we have. You either have faith or you don't and as always the choice is up to you. Peace.

It's pretty en vogue right now to bash Christians. Why does no one question the freakin Koran? That's old, too!! Or the Torah??? Or Buddah? I am sure that you would think it was racist or close-minded to question Islam, right??? Christianity isn't cool right now, and I'm sure that you have the need to fit in, but why not be SUPER cool, go WAY out of the box, and say you are a Christian? GASP!! The horrors!!!! What a REAL rebel you will be then!!! PS - Lumping ALL Christians into "blindly following" is remarkably similar to lumping all blacks into some horrible stereotype, or any other group.

In the beginning was the Word and the word was with God and the Word was God.
Jesus came to earth and was the living breathing Word of God, Jesus was here before here was here and he is still alive.
When we become Christians we receive the Holy Spirit which is the Spirit of Truth, this guides us to know the truth, without the Spirit you can not know the truth in the Word of God or anything else.
You think we believe Words from a book, we believe living Words from a living God that you can not know without taking his free gift of salvation. He loves you and died so that you could have that choice.

Actually, it has been proven. Read the book, Evidence that Demands a Verdict, I forget who wrote it, if someone could provide the author, that would rock.

They have FAITH, and believe in the word of God. The bible is said to be the only book written, that has not been changed over the years by man. Yes, there are different versions, for easier reading and understanding but the word remains the same.
