People usually consider "cheating on a test" to be knowing the answers beforehand. So technically, wouldn't studying the answers to a test in a text book, that just so happens to have all of the answers in it, before a test be considered cheating also? The only difference between the two is a cheat-sheet has the answer in a little sentence and the text book has the answer mixed in with a paragraph somewhere.

A test is given when you can gain the info from a text book. Unless it's an 'open book' test, you're expected to 'remember' the answers from the text.
A cheat sheet is exactly that. You're cheating by somehow finding out the questions on the test so you write down the answers ahead of time rather than trying to remember what you read.

Cheating only becomes an issue if students are not challenged to synthize and analyze the information they are given. If teachers didn't give multiple choice and the same short answer questions year after year then there would be no issue. I know there are essay sites that allow you to not really write an essay. But this is just a sympton of teachers not getting a writing sample from their students and not having them write on a daily basis.

As far as I'm concerend if you can get away with cheating, then cheat. I would cheat in business to get ahead. No one looks at me funny if I schedule a meeting with a competitor or parnter at an inconvient time so that they feel rushed and uncomfortable and more apt to give in to demands. It is business and it is legitimate. Cheat. Just be intelligent about cheating.

Let me put it this way - if you learn something (from listening to a lecture or studying on your own) you feel proud of your accomplshment when you pass the test (without cheating). If you cheat - you will not get to experience the confidence and empowerment that comes from succeeding with integrity.

Have you heard the term "cheaters never prosper"?
You might feel llike your ahead for a while if you cheat - but in the big picture you're a loser if you cheat.

I never cheated and I never studied. If you don't remember it from lecture, you weren't paying enough attention.
