I usaully use a cap for my sunkissed highlights. But my cap was with a friend who I wouldnt see for a while.I got impatient and couldnt stand the roots showing. So I bought one of these highlight kits. I showed my boyfriend how to take a lock of hair, split it with the zig zag pattern at the roots, apply the dye and put foil on it. Unfortuneately I forgot to explain, that he must dye half the lock, leave half, and move on to the next lock. So he just went ahead and dyed one half, then the other. I only realised the problem when he was almost finished and I realised there was foil on all my hair, not just some of it!I ran to the shower to rinse it out but to late! Instead of a half head of highlights, I had a half head completely blond! How funny. Anyways, do you ladies think I should put some lowlights in my original color in, or just dye it all back to the original color? And let this be a warning. Men and hairdye are a dangerous combonation!

Oh my gosh... don't we all have those horrible hair coloring stories.... I turned my hair white and then tried dying it brown and turned it green! Well after a few years of hair coloring experiences I can tell you what yo do, go to the drug store and pick the color closest to your natural hair color and dye it completely, then go to Sally's and buy a highlighting cap and pull a few strands through and re-highlight your hair. If you are aiming to stay away from so much of your normal hair color, then buy a highlighting cap and pull your hair through and then add your normal hair coloring..... I would stay away from the foil. Good luck to you. I hope you get it all straightened out. Cutos to your boyfriend for trying! That's a good man!

Oh dear, what a waste, he did all the work of splitting it but dyed it all! You could have done that yourself in 2 minutes.
I think I would leave it blonde for awhile, see how you like it but more importantly let it rest at least a couple weeks before you process it again. I would want to minimize the processing so I would probably go for the lowlights - the bfriend is already trained on the technique, get him to do it but this time supervise his work in the mirror!

this is funny ,I have had alot of wild and crazy hair colors myself .if I were you I would pull some of your natural color thru a cap ,that would be pretty ,hey have some fun with it now ,I have had purple hair and orange I had alot of problems coloring my hair because I have strawberry blonde with some red in it so it will grab dark colors fast and end up almost black and the blonde I have to watch it dont turn orange .so now I just pull thru a small amount and have blonde highlights .Just go ahead if I were you and see what your natural color will look like pulled thru a cap .I dont do well with foiling mine ,good luck ,hey dont let him this time lol ,,,he he

I have had my husband pull it thru the cap. It went ok but if I were you I would color it to one same color and then maybe in a few week add some mild highlights!

That is very nice. You and your bf have a really good relationship. Anyway, use a low light to tone it down. But i hope you know that you will have to take extra special care of your hair now though with so much bleach.

You shouldn't call him dangerous or imply that he is stupid -- you yourself have said, that you failed to explain the procedure to him.
