It's illegal, no matter how nice he is. Technically, it would be statuatory rape even if you consent

Evolutionarily, it is exactly what nature intended. I think of it as natures' little joke. Highest hormone storms mixed with poor impulse control. Probably helped the species survive at critical times, though. Current society strongly frowns on underage "dating" because the possibility of statutory rape (even with your consent) rises dramatically. Should this happen, your friend would have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his natural life (an astonishing thing to have to drag around). Teenagers, even the older of you two has poor impulse control at this age, and well, *things* happen.
The reason this has gained such powerful hold in current culture is the devastating statistics for the outcome of teenage pregnancy and marriage. A century or less ago, it was not at all uncommon for girls of this age to marry and start families, but the times, they are a'changin'.
If you really like him, and he likes you, maintain your friendship at a distance, and be patient until you turn sixteen. Seems like an eternity when you are that age. I would suggest you get a small, inexpensive journal (make it look like one of your school books, to avoid nosy parents' eyes. Write in it, by hand, every day, what your feelings about him are. If you have the chance to get it to him, do so, and start another. Writing by hand is so much more romantic and done in a much more thoughtful and careful manner than any mechanism involving a keyboard. If you keep these to review in the future, you will be amused, and probably a little astonished at their content.
Remember, part of the impulse control immaturity is impatience. Practice patience, it will serve you well in the future.

I think the point is that by law, he is an adult. Should anything happen to you, while you are with him, he is gonna have to answer to it. Not only that, if you were to get pregnant, he going to jail, its called statutory rape. If he's all that to you, then you should maintain your friendship until you are 18, by then, your heart and mind may or will have developed and matured in a different direction, to which you may think more about a future and a degree from college, rather than be tied down to someone.
young love is not a love to which is understood clearly, but take time out for yourself and try to see the benefits in the wait, I'm sure you would pat yourself on the back --- don't rush it, you both should go on to further your schooling and then hook up.

Legally he is considered an adult since he is 18 and you are a minor since you are under the age of 18.
You are only 15 and can not legally consent to having sex or dating this guy. If you two go out on a date, even if it is just one date, he could go to prison for statuatory rape even if nothing sexual happens. At that point he will be branded a sex offender for the rest of his life. With that branding it will be difficult to nearly impossible for him to live a normal adult life...getting a good paying job, buying a house (no family wants a registered sex offender nearby), etc.
If you truly love and/or care for him I would suggest that you wait until you are 18.

The only problem is if you are planning to have sex. Since you are under age, he could be charged with statutory rape even if you say it is OK. You will need to check the laws in your area to know what you legally can and cannot do. After all, even though you might be very mature mentally and physically, you are still a minor under the law in most states in the USA anyway. Many other countries have other laws so check with the laws where you live. If you are not having sex, then I see nothing wrong with that relationship, but most relationships eventually include sex.
Proceed with caution and only with your parents' blessing.

When people are below the age of 18-20 a few years can make a big difference mainly because those are the years the body stops growing I believe. It's just a socially expected guideline I think, like many other things that dont make as much sense as they should.

I don't think a 15 year old should date anyone. I don't care if the guy is 15. Just be friends and when you are old enough to date see if he's still around. HAVE FUN, YOUR ONLY 15!

You cannot go out because, as they say, you are not an adult. Legally, I do not think you can take care of yourself if while out something happens. You may cost the government more, for you can only be taken to a childrens home and not a jail. Also, its to everyones knowledge why you want to go out, otherwise, why not accompany your elder bros/friends or your sisters or girlfriends? Why him?

HELLO!!! what are your parents saying... if they are somehow ok with you dating him then that is pefectly ok then. go ahead and date him. but if your parents dont like the idea then DO NOT because they will be the first ones to report his ***. do not go against your parents. if you like this guy a lot and you are not able to date then just "be friends". just dont have sex until you are a lil older or you are on some type of birth control. YOU ARE 15!!!

If the two of you had sex, he'd be put into jail for having sex with an underaged. Since he's 18, he's allowed to buy booze, go into clubs, buy smokes and do heaps of stuff that u cant. why dont u wait till ur 16? ur young, i know its only 2 years. but i think if he went into clubs, he'd be around girls his age...would u not get jealous?

Nothing but opinions about what is right for just "going out".
Now at 15 you cannot consent to sex....so it is called statitory rape even if you agree to it.
He will be a registered sex offender for the rest of his life.
