Is it thrown out, does the mom keep it, or something else entirely? If it is thrown out, don't you think that is a terrible waste? I have a modest proposal...

It is often disposed of in a manner that eventually leaves no traces, incineration. Yes, the "modest proposal" did wake up many back then in 1729 in Ireland when Jonathan Swift, a clergyman, proposed to use children to feed the poor, and use the bodies to make shoes, lamp shades, book covers, and other"useful" purposes. Remember, it was only a wake-up call to the plight of the poor... it was meant to wake up the rich who obviously thought little of the the neglected poor living within a few hundred feet of the opulence and over-indulgence and waste of the wealthy and rich.
As far as I know, it is illegal (that's why so much commotion in Washington) to use those stem cells for any kind of research and/or medical therapy even though the fetuses are being destroyed... politicos claim that there might come a time when fetuses are harvested for monetary gain. At present, the Prez has no understand between THERAPEUTIC cloning and reproductive cloning or cloning for harvesting... a ridiculous notion since the scientific community is NOT trying to harvest for parts but to GROW cells/organs to CURE cancer, diabetes, blindness, spinal injury-related paralysis, etc.
A few individuals HAVE been cured of diabetes in Canada a few years ago and in NYC recently when pancreatic beta cells were transplanted into diabetes patients from aborted fetuses; the reason for using these beta cells from fetuses is that fetuses have no antigens (rejection anti-bodies) and the recipients have no need for a lifetime of anti-rejection chemicals that cause havoc on the immune system. Within hours, the patients were free of diabetes and were eating candies and ice cream.
Would you consider donating your organs at the time of your death so that someone can live? The same question can be posed in the following manner, "Would you donate your unwanted fetus that you aborted so that someone else can live?" It is a moral question that needs to be debated and considered on an individual basis. Consider that some people also feel the same way about donating blood...a life-sustaining tissue (yes, blood is a tissue).

Humans are embryos not fetuses..
I have lost 4 children due to miscarriage. They WERE babies...they were not blobs of tissue...I held them, saw them..
Unfortunately they use them for research. I found this out too late to save my first two...the last two were buried by me..

it would die of course! what a waste of life. i could not imagine aborting a fetus which would turn out to be a very cute and happy baby after. please have safe sex. dont let the babies suffer from your mistake.
