From a Christian Viewpoint
If the Bible (God) says that a Divorced woman should NOT re - marry, c`se she`ll be called an adulteress (whore), howcome they still try to justify their cases...

After all - On the very first day of the first marriage, they have promised in front of many a people (and God) "untill death ...."

What type of "Love" was the first relationship based upon, if the second relationship is also based on "love" ?

I`m divorced too (10 yrs now) and still keep my promise to my ex (and God) regardless of her whoring life ...

A divorced man or woman has infact still a living parter out there, which means that they are THEMSELVES just living adulteress lifes with their second partners ...it`s just common sence if you consider your first vow made infront of winesses ...

We talk about commitment to God ...

Many people have mentioned that Jesus has said that a man man divorce a woman in the case of adultery. This is a mistranslation. What Jesus meant was if the marriage was unlawful. The Old Testament is full of examples of unlawful marriage between close relatives.

Consider the prophet Hosea. He was told by God to marry a prostitute as an example of how God Himself was bound to a faithless people.

Also, the Israelites were constantly worshipping other gods, which is a form of adultery. God may have punished His people with exile, but He never "divorced" people.

There are cases where the church may release them from the vows and they may be free to remarry. I am divorced also, I have never sought an annullment becuase I felt that my vows to God were sincere. I don't know about my spouse however, who is now on a third marriage. Many people tell me that it is obvious that he was not mature enough or emotionally stable enough to keep marriage vows or he would not be such a serial divorcer.

I have never settled this for myself and so do not seek a new relationship myself. I do think that many Christians even, are way too casual about vows to God.

I am a Christian who is re-married. God never intended for a woman or man for that matter to exist in a relationship of hostility or adultery.
In my case it was all the above. I left him. DId not seek divorce, even though I had every legal and divine right to do so. He finally divorced me, and I remarried. Have been with my Husband for 21 years..

But what about men? Can they re-marry without all that being thrown at them? Will they be called A whore or adulterer?

You also have to remember that in different times it was OK for a man to have an affair but it was A very bad thing for a women. She would be shunned and thrown out of the social life. But the husband could have many mistresses without being looked down on.

So there is usually different "punishments" for men than women. BUT if you are in an abusive relationship, will God want you to stay in it? Or if your husband or wife is cheating at every corner, would He want you to stay in the relationship? Are you to stay unhappy and lonely the rest of your life for something you had no control over? What if you are a widow? Are you to stay unmarried for the rest of your life? What if you are still young and have more than 50 years left to live?

The bible has many holes in it. It was not written by God, but by man. A man wrote it to say what he wanted it to say. God did not say one day "let there be biblical text" and there was biblical text, it was written by man. Therefore, take what it says with a grain of salt. For it is not the true word of god. Don't get me wrong, I believe in god, but the bible was written by man.

There is one part you are missing.

In the Bible it also says that you may divorce your wife and remarry if she has committed adultery. She has broken the vow, so now you are free.

Why are you waiting? Go find a woman of God rather than pick the first one that will sleep with you.

I have looked at this for years. Jesus allowed divorce in cases of adultery. Let the unfaithful spouse depart. Paul said by permission that the single should remain single... but also if one couldn't contain himself to marry ... let each man have his own wife. The one divorcing causes the other's spouse (which re-marries) to commit adultery. If I cause you to sin, then am I actually the sinner?

Love... agape we should have for all.

you need to read the regs there in leviticus. Do not be putting men into scripture that specifically takes men out. This whole adultry by men only fits if one is doing someone elses wife. Twisting scripture to make a point is always wrong so cut it out, we have enough preachers out there doing it now.

which is why catholics go thru the legal proces of anullment.

Personally, I dont care if any holy book says that my 1st marriage can be the only one..

If it actually says that, its one more detail to ignore.
If it does, its a guide, not a law.

Living with another, while still married to the first is wrong too.
& what u describe is actully a bigger sin than re-marrying.

think about the Culture and Society in which this was written. these passages you refer to were written when there were strong differences in Culture and Society. today the Cultures and Societies we live in are much different as we have different laws rules and mores than in Ancient times. today there are many differences in dress, food, shelter along with lifestyles than our Ancestors ever conceived of. the advance of Culture and Society needs to be taken into consideration.
