Your mother is entitled to wear what she wants to wear, as long as she feels good about herself, why make her feel bad by telling her she looks awful!!

Oh just leave her alone, she is trying to recapture her youth. Have a word with her friends and ask them to gently drop the hint that she would look absolutely fantastic in sophisticated, well cut clothes and still be up to the minute and cool. She may be an embarrassment to you, but I bet she feels great!!. There is a chance she hasn't really got a clue what suits her. Maybe you could get her a token to have a makeup makeover to start the process and good luck. I bet she is good fun, so don't be too hard on her.
