Don't let your clothing size or the scale tell the story. My first wife was a size 16-18 but she was 6 feet tall, so she was big, not fat. I've also known women who were technically obese (20 pounds overweight) for their height and body frame but they were very athletic, so they had very little fat on them. Best way to determine whether you're technically "fat" is to have someone do a body-fat measurement. You can have it done at a local gym or maybe even a health food store. If your body fat is over 20% for a man or over 24% for a woman, you're technically over-fat.

Are you a man? David S.?
16-18 could be fat, depending on your height and general build.
Clothing size isn't the best indicator of "fatness". Go online and find a BMI calculator. If you can find one that also asks you for your waist size, even better.
It will give you a much better idea if you are too heavy for your height.

Honestly, it depends on body type. Size 16-18 isn't skinny, but it's also not necessarily fat. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I frankly prefer a woman who has curves as opposed to stick-women. My opinion is that, as long as there are no "rolls," you shouldn't worry.
