Oh WoW! I miss them, too! I don't know just when they disappeared, but thanks for jogging a memory of mine. My friends and I used to think we were so cool, pretending to be "movie stars", walking around with those CANDY CIGARETTES, puffing away, and "inhaling"!
Gosh,,,,,all those cool and fun things aren't around anymore...;~(
How about "Bullseyes candys? and Penny Pretzels? and wax coke bottles with some gooey syrup inside? And in my neighborhood, we always had Italian Ice in a paper cup!
On a more serious note, I guess that they wouldn't be a good thing to show kids how to smoke...seems everything is so "serious" and has to be politically correct these days...takes the fun out of life huh! But I think that if someone wants to smoke, they'll start anyway, and a fun thing like candy cigarettes probably wouldn't influence them too much....
I "smoked them" all the time, and I never smoked in real life! However, I was addicted to the candy cigarettes....;!)

I hate how many smokers are so inconsiderate and downright dangerous with their lit butts. They stand there and flick the lit butt right onto the groud not 2 inches from the discard bin. I know that there have been many grass and forest fires from this carelessness. I once had a friend throw a cigarette out the window of the car and it blew back in the back window into the baby's car seat. Luckily I saw it happen or the baby could have had SERIOUS burns.

They are still available in certain candy stores. Try online, under vintage candy, I have seen them there too.
