Hi all! I'm moving to washington DC in June 2007 for 3 years, for my husband's job, I'm moving with him and my 15 year old son. He'll be working in the Georgetown area and we'd like to find a townhouse or an appartment in that area, we also need to find a good school for our son and generally I need information to help me with EVERYTHING as I haven't got a clue about anything! Can anyone help???? thanks!!!!!

I lived in Washington last year, and let me tell you, Georgetown is an expesive area, if I were you I'd take a look at Arlington, I lived in Courthouse and it is really near Georgetown and a lot less expensive, it is on the Orange line of the metro, which is really convenient.

Like Washington it self, the creating has grown over the years considering that the main section was developed between 1793 and 1812. The last improvement, in 1958-62, enlarged the key façade wherever presidents get the oath. On another part, a marble terrace presents beautiful opinions on the mall and the city. The inner is resplendent with frescoes, reliefs, and paintings, specially the rotunda underneath the good cast-iron dome with a ceiling painting by Constantino Brumidi and big paintings of views from American history on the walls.

if you want to live in georgetown, your husband better be pulling in some serious cash. bottle water costs $3 here and everything else is WAYYY more expensive. your best, financial, bet would be to find something in the surounding area. there are plenty of condos, apts all within 10-15 minutes of georgetown here. they are all posted on the net so if you googled DC condos or something, you'd get a blast of info about them. sorry, can't help you out with the schools.

Georgetown is a very expensice area. You could live in Arlington, VA in the Rosslyn area. It's right across the river from Georgetown and you can get there easily. My sister lived in the Rosslyn area of Arlington and we walked to Georgetown. There's a bridge that connects it. I'd do that rather than live in Georgetown. It's so crowded and expensive.

That really depends on how much money your family will be making. Georgetown is one of the most expensive places to live in the area. Most of the people who work in DC live in either Virginia or Maryland and commute.
