yes. liquid is liquid.

however the poster above is right, those liquids containing caffiene can stimulate your bladder and dehydrate your body, negating the good effects, if you consume too much of them.

First, the others are right, caffeinated drinks do not count, because of the diuretic effect of caffeine. But the old 8 glasses a day rule is rubbish, do a large man, a petite woman, and an athlete need the same amount of water? The best rule is based on body weight: divide weight in pounds by 2, drink that number of ounces per day; or divide weight in stone by 2, drink that many pints (OF WATER) per day. I know that's a lot, but it gives you a good goal to strive for. Your bladder will get used to it after 2 days or so... Add more if you are exercising strenuously!

Yes it does count towards your fluid intake. Which should be minimum 8 Glasses a day (or cups etc). But you should try to cut down on coffee and fizzy drinks.......squash (sugar free) isn't too bad, but water is best for you.

My PG Tips box used to claim that tea was part of my daily fluid intake but I know that caffiene is a diuretic (which dehydrates the body). It will be the same for coffee.
Sugared drinks don't hydrate as effectively as water because the body breaks down sucrose into glucose and fructose using water. In other words it's dehydrating.

Who cares? I drink a 2 litre bottle of pepsi a day and nothing else but I'm not snapping at people like I would be drinking water and eating very sensible salads. I'm happy drinking what I want. I'll worry about the consequences in another 20 years!

Definitely Not.
Daily recommended intake is 8 glasses of pure water.
The Caffeine content of teas and coffee counteracts the purifying qualities of the water which leads to dehydration.
Squashes and fizzy drinks are unbelievably Fattening due to high sugar contents
Contrary to some alcohol drinkers beliefs alcohol does not add fluids to your body, it is a major cause of dehydration and full of toxins
Toxins are why it is recommended to drink lots of water as it clears the body of these toxins.

So as well as drinking beverages also drink pure water to keep your system in balance as we are made up of up to 70% of the stuff.

Not from what my doctor tells me. Even though all of those are 99% water, the other elements in them like caffeine are diuretics which makes water pass through your system faster instead of retaining the water that your body needs. So if you mostly drink the liquids that you've listed, you should still drink a couple glasses of water each day to make up for the fluid loss.

Well as to much caffeine is bad for your system I doubt that drinking tea or coffee count as part of your liquid intake.

As for the idiots that said they all contain water , does that mean I can drink beer as water is part of that as well.

Yes they do, but some of those can act as dehydrating fluids. Better to stick with water, squash and fruit juices. Food should also be included as fluid intake. Much of the food we eat contains fluid (namely water), and this also helps.
