...Is like dealing with a very small drunk person? Putting them to bed when they are acting out because they are so tired, kind of like taking care of somebody that is so drunk, they don't even know where they are?

Had this experience last night, just wondering.

Wow! Boy do I remember those days! That is exactly what it's like. They go all limp and throw themselves around. I never thought about that comparison before but you hit it tight on the head! I raised 4 kids and now have 5 grand kids,2 of which live with me. Thanks for the giggle...the best of luck to you.

I feel for you. There have been many times that my son was like that - and then there are the times that I'm also overtired and feeling like a drunk mommy.
I hope you two have a better night tonight.

Interesting analogy. Although usually drunks just fall asleep in mid sentence and don't fight the feeling. Children do fight sleep and it is amazing how long they can hold on!
But, interesting non the less.

I experience it everynight. My son/daughter is going to be three and hardly ever takes a nap, so come five in the evening we deal with that until about nine or ten.Even if I can get him./her to take a nap we still do that with her/him.Good Luck!!!!!

welcome to my world!!!!! still, keep a very structured bedtime routine and your toddler will eventually get it and go to bed far more easily (based on my own experience as a mom of 2 toddlers and a baby!)
