I would guess the Religious Left and the Religious Right both have a lot more power in American politics than the anti-Christian bigots, though ACB-edness seems to be becoming less politically incorrect in America so it's gaining a public voice it never had (Jesse Ventura, Rosie O'Donnell, etc.). To compare to Europe? I'm not sure I can gauge politics in Europe but they definitely have a lot more athiests. I think the Religious Left has some power there, but the Religious Right seems to be nearly non-existant there...just some observations from the western side of the big pond.

I have to say it's the Christian bigots who are too powerful in the US, mostly because of these reasons:

- The US, in general, are much more religious than Europe;
- Christian parties are usually also conservative, nationalistic and right-wing, and in Europe right-wing and nationalistic parties are seen in a bad light since WWII and the Nazis;
- Europe consists of many different nations and cultures, and o live with each other peacefully they have to be more open to different cultures and values, that also means more openness to other religions, which weakens Christianity's power here.

What? are you blind? America consists of two major lobbies the fundemenatist christians who make up about 50% of voters and the anti-christian Jewish Bigots who run New York City and often decide the elections with a block of 4 million votes.
