I very occasionally have this happen to me and at first I was frightened, but when it happens now, its quite a strange but pleasurable feeling:-

When i'm really tired and I end of falling asleep but I know I need to stay away (usually on the sofa, during the day), I start to dream as per usual and my body/muscles switch off as per normal sleep routine. I am then semi-consious and still aware of the fact that I am on a sofa falling asleep. I can open my eyes and see the room around me, but I can't move my body as it has gone into sleep mode. I can then either just close my eyes again and drift deeper loosing consiousness as per normal sleep or tell myself to count to three and shake myself awake. When I do this, I can feel a massive surge of energy/warmth as my body comes back 'on' again and I'm fully awake again. I can feel the energy working its way through my body (takes a few seconds) - like i'm 'turning on' again. Are our bodies just mechanisms for our souls?....

Ahh.....you can train yourself to have OBE. You are experiencing what some call sleep apralysis. You already have some control over it. Next time you are in this state, try to gradually ease yourself 'out of your body' starting with your finger tips and work on through your body.

just before you become completely free, many people say they hear a voice (sometimes a dead relative, sometimes demon, sometimes living relative) that tells them not to continue.

When you asre free, lift yourself up and go through a door (some will appear) these take you to other places.

Absolutely brilliant, you have discovered this by accident and now you can use this gift to explore the Universe. :)

The only time I ever had an out-of-body experience was when I almost died in a hospital in London. From my own experience I can tell you that this phenomenon is real, not just some neurological quirk. It's difficult to explain, but the clarity of detail was too astounding for it to have just been my imagination.

But yes, I do believe our bodies are receptacles for our souls (or higher selves).

Just a thought: Do get yourself checked out for sleep apnea disorder, just in case.

Actually this happens when you are in REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. REM sleep is the area of your sleep cycle where you are dreaming and your body is at that point quite paralyzed. Only your autonomic nervous system which powers your heart and breathing are functioning. So if you are paralyzed then you can realize that whatever you are seeing or doing it is a dream.

As for out of body experiences well my take on that sort of thing is that people who think they have had these experiences have a very good imagination and should try writing a novel.

I believe in OBEs. I don't dream of going back into my body, but I've had dreams where I'm flying. Sylvia Browne calls this episode "astral catalypsy," where you're in astral travel mode, but you're trying to go back into your body. If you don't want to feel that stuff, just ask God (or whoever you pray to) for a quick entrance and exit when you're going out of your body. I would also recommend any books by Sylvia Browne or Edgar Cayce.

Such an interesting question but guess only you can find whatever answers make sense. It has been said we are closest to death when we sleep, so I would look into it more because you may have a gift

alot of ministers think that we will sleep in the graves for awhile before the Judgment...the soul that sins it shall die..But God will save our memories in Heaven.. when those memories go back to God at death people can remember that if they are brought back.
