While eating breakfast this morning, I noticed something that I've been over looking for years now.... There was no little toy in the cereal! Why'd they stop?

Simply put, economic. Although it cost pennies to put these trinkets into the cereal boxes, pennies add up to dollars. It could also be that kids from the current generation are just not interested in trinkets like the past generation kids.

They still do, it's just not as common as it was when I was growing up. Just had a box of froot loops with some trinket in it...
And a lot of things are mail-in now...I just got a Curious George (the monkey - not the President) DVD by buying a few boxes of cereal and mailing in the UPC codes.

Perhaps it is because Mothers became tired of the fighting over who got the prize in families with more than one child

I think you will find that it is to do with Health and Safety and the fear of kids choking on them. Its a shame cause i used to love getting the freebie and collecting them.

because they're horrible people. i liked the prizes..... but anyway, it's probably because of some health comcerns. i dunno exactly, but thats why they do a lot of stuff these days.
