I swear, I always drive about five miles under the speed limit, my license and tags are fine, I don't drink or do drugs. But when I see a cop, I'm always afraid that he'll see *something* wrong and pull me over. Like, maybe I'm breaking a law I don't know about. So I'm tense and very careful until he leaves. Is this normal?

I can't think of anything I feel guilty about. Huh. Weird.

I am definately like this. I think it is because I have gotten pulled over for very small things, things that I was not even aware of, like a dim liscense plate light. The fear comes from the power that they have to extract money from me and you. They are the modern day predators, lions in the grass, so to speak. I think that sometime I will crash into somebody because I am too worried about a cop in the rear-view mirror.

I believe it may have something to do with confidence, Police can have a authority complex. See the person as an equal doing a job. Like you think about it when a boss / or a person generally looking over your shoulder. Your ok relax thats normal just dont run of with a bag of money.....

It's a bit like when I got through customs, I have absolutely nothing to hide, but still feel a little bit guilty and worried about being stopped and searched. Overtaking a police car, now that makes me feel guilty.

NO!!! This might be normal in some people. You should not be nervous when you see a police car or police officer, because they pick up on peoples body language,
and anyway, police officers are there to help you, not arrest you.

Me too ! When you see them, try to act as casual as possible.Do not wave.Do not let them catch you looking at their car.
Above all:
Never ever make eye contact with them.
Do not talk about them. Not even with your closest friend. They know things about you that you dont even know.
A very good friend of mine made eye contact with a policeman, and the policeman wasn't wearing his sun glasses. My friend was turned into a powder type dust and a puff of wind took him away.
Be careful and good luck to you.

You have the common symptoms of "policeaphobia" .Which is illegal in 48 states as of last week.We also need to make an exception out of you to let the other citizens know that it's a crime now and that we're serious about enforcing it so we will be sending out a swat team.

Cops like it when you fear them. If they DO pull you over, they will make sure that they find something wrong. If you look suspicious, they will find a reason to pull you over. You're not doing the wrong thing by being careful, but don't look suspicious.

Because the laws are so complex, even judges don't know them all. We are afraid we did something wrong and we didn't realize it. Remember "Ignorance of the law is no excuse".

I know a lot of people who have this problem, including myself, and I am a retired police officer. Guilty conscience I guess.
