Soy milk (also called soymilk, soya milk, soybean milk, soy bean milk, soy drink, or soy beverage) is a Chinese milk-like beverage made from soybeans.
Soy milk originated in China, a region where soybean was native and used as food long before the existence of written records. Later on, the soybean and soybean foods were transplanted to Japan. Soybean or "vegetable" milk is reputed to have been discovered and developed by Liu An of the Han Dynasty in China about 164 B.C. Liu An is also credited with the development of "Doufu" (soybean curd) in China which 900 years later spread to Japan where it is known as "tofu".
The soybean's oil and protein provide nutrition to the germinating soy seedling, similar to how milk's protein and fat provide nutrition to the baby mammal.
Traditional soy milk, a stable emulsion of oil, water and protein, is simply an aqueous extract of whole soybeans. The liquid is produced by soaking dry soybeans, and grinding them with water. Soy milk contains about the same proportion of protein as cow's milk~ around 3.5%; also 2% fat, 2.9% carbohydrate and 0.5% ash. Lower fat varieties of soy milk are often significantly lower in protein than cow's milk because the defatting process is not one of skimming risen cream, rather it involves adding water.
you can have soy milk and see whether you turn weird
let me know

Yes I R weird ........but I am also lactose intolerant. So I have to drink soy milk. You can trust me I am very honest.......but I don't know about those other weirdos
If you have heard of the product Ensure. That is made out of soybeans. I had to drink that back when it was not flavored and was very nasty tasting. (20 years ago I was sick and the hospital made me ...I was pregnant and was very sick and they were trying to get me to gain weight) Ensure is basically a soybean shake. So Ensure probably the basis of soy milk. Soy milk tastes nothing like Ensure used to it was YUCKY.
Ensure used to also have little flavor packets (like a sugar pac) that you could stir in to make it TASTE BETTER? Yeah right

Health benefits and concerns
Made from ground soybeans, filtered water, and a small amount of brown rice sweetener, soy milk has a richer flavor and texture than other dairy-free milk and substitutes well for low-fat or whole milk. Soy milk is 100% percent lactose-free and is suitable for those with dairy sensitivities.
Varieties
Soy milk is available in plain and flavored varieties, and in low-fat, fat-free, and fortified versions.
Buying and storing tips
Look for soy milk in cartons, either on the shelves or in the refrigerated section of natural food stores or grocery stores. Soy milk will keep for seven to ten days; refrigerate after opening. For an extended shelf life and optimal taste, refrigerate overnight before opening.
Availability
Soy milk is available year-round.
Preparation, uses, and tips
Use plain soy milk as a base for cream soups or sauces, or as a substitute for milk in most baked goods.

Health benefits and concerns
Soy milk is a poorer source of isoflavones (phytoestrogens) than are miso, tofu, or tempeh. Isoflavones are compounds thought to be largely responsible for many of the health benefits associated with eating soy. Drinking soy milk helps contribute somewhat to the potential health benefits derived from eating other soy foods, but less so than several other commonly eaten soy foods.
I hope you have learned something today, if not email me, i'll send a hooker to spank you up till you get it.

Calm down. I'll assume you are joking about your scorn. Anyway, the development of soy milk was a natural because there are substantial numbers of people who are allergic to natural milk, but soy is accepted by the "natural food" crowd as natural, even when highly processed. Besides, it tastes really, really good when it's well made.
