The Testimony of Faith, Ritual Prayer, Obligatory (religious) almsgiving, fasting and The Pilgrimage to Mecca. HOWEVER,
i 've read in some sources that the 'original" pillars were different!!!
one of them mentioned "jihad against the infidels"

is there any truth to that? please provide references.

thanks

According to Sahih Bukhari (The most authentic book of ahadith): "Narrated Ibn 'Umar:

Allah's Apostle said: Islam is based on (the following) five (principles):

1. To testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Muhammad is Allah's Apostle.

2. To offer the (compulsory congregational) prayers dutifully and perfectly.

3. To pay Zakat (i.e. obligatory charity) .

4. To perform Hajj. (i.e. Pilgrimage to Mecca)

5. To observe fast during the month of Ramadan. "

These are the "original" pillars of Islam.

Re-study and review your sources because the one you read will lead you to wrong knowledge of Islam and it will lead you to nowhere. I'm afraid you will become terrorist someday..
What I know of jihad is divided into two categories. One small catogory is to defend ones country from invaders who will introduce other religion, exploits the muslim country its people and properties.
The biggest category or most important JIHAD is disciplining oneself from evils acts because evils attempted to influence anyone to commit un-human...That the correct 5 Pillars are
1.) Testimony of faith by accepting that you believe in Allah and Prophet Muhammed is the last prhet and messenger 2. )Performing prayers 5 times a day 3. Fasting during the month of Ramadhan 4.) Performing Hajj at least once in a life time 5. )Giving of Alms to the poorest members of your community.
Any changes of these five (5) stated above original Pillars are mistakingly insulting Islam. Jihad for your information, Mr idiot, never been included.

there are 5 pillars of Islam, ill name them.
1. Tawheed -- THERE IS NO GOD BUT ONE GOD and Muhammed-pbuh is His messenger.
2. Salaat -- prayer 5 times/day , there are many and u can pray as much as u want -- but 5 times/day is Fardh -- compulsory. accd ot hadith -- "if u cant stand and pray, then sit and pray and if cant sit and pray then lie down and pray and if u cannot lie down and pray, then pray ith ur tongue."
3. Zakah -- charity to the poor , 1/4th of our incomes -- obligatory Fardh meaning for those who can except very poor and needy.
4. Sawm -- fasting from dawn to dusk -- obligatory Fardh -- for those who can -- exceptions of sick people with health problems, pregnant and lactating women, elderly people, and very young children.
5.Hajj -- Pilgrimage to Holy Makkah -- obligatory Fardh -- for those who can -- if u use the money for pilgrimage to help someone (get married, get educated or if someone is dead and if u help them financially) and skip ur pilgrimage, then Allah blesses u with more bounty than that for Hajj.

PROOF:
a muslim isnt a muslim just by name. a muslim by heart is one who fulfills the needs of others and who remembers God in every little lawful and righteous thing he/she does. thanks for reading the Quran and understanding this point.

Al-Baqara | 286 verses | The Calf سورة البقرة
Sura #2 | Madina
177 It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces to the East and the West; but righteous is he who believeth in Allah and the Last Day and the angels and the Scripture and the prophets; and giveth wealth, for love of Him, to kinsfolk and to orphans and the needy and the wayfarer and to those who ask, and to set slaves free; and observeth proper worship and payeth the poor-due. And those who keep their treaty when they make one, and the patient in tribulation and adversity and time of stress. Such are they who are sincere. Such are the Allah-fearing.

is there any mention of killing and plundering? if u have any doubts then please do feel free to ask and clarify.
