!. Follow the Five Pillars of Islam Strictly
2. Forget once for all "Qafir - Fathwa - Jihad"!! Religious School (Madharasas) should teach Religion only and not the hatred. If any one does it, hang them in public place.
3. Tell what do you do and do what do you tell
4. At least the Secondary School Education is a necessisty for the girls. Let them study and do some work for their living, as men always deprive the rights of women by quoting Holy Quoran! They call the women as baby manufaturing machines!
5. Keep your home, street, town hygenic and the environment will be free from any kind of epedamic breakout. Daily have a shower in the evening and change your clothes after returning from your work. So you will not convey any tranmittabale health problems to the family members.
Islam is very good religion and I believe that the clerics misguide the followers often after the Friday Semon!
The immediate attention has to be focussed on "some religious and more on social sector "l!
Best of luck!

Though I am not Muslim, but Christian, I have found that almost every religion has much to draw from on how to be a better person. The Bible, the Qur'an, the Tanakh, the Hindu Vedas, the Buddhist's Theravada, the Pagan's The Charge Of The Goddess, even Bushido (The Way Of The Samurai) all have very similar approaches to living life as a person of faith.

I will let you count the contrast of what is not better and what is better.
Ishmael and Isaac burried Abraham in Mamre Gen.25:9; All nations are to be blessed because of Abraham being a faithful friend to God. Jesus was #62 in the Genealogy.
Ishmael was born 2094 after Adam [or 1972 before Christ plus 600 to modern day people of Ishmael of 1,406 years ago. Indeed they should feel blessed ].
Gal.5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Gal.5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Gal.5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Gal.5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Gal.5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
#01. Love
#02. Joy
#03. Peace
#04. Longsuffering is patience.
#05. Gentleness,
#06. Goodness.
#07. Meakness
#08. Temperance

People can be better humans regardless of their religion. Even people who are atheists can be wonderful humans. No religion has a monopoly on being good. Start with the golden rule: Treat others how you would like for them to treat you.

According to Sahih Bukhari (The most authentic book of ahadith) Narrated Ibn 'Umar:
Allah's Apostle said: Islam is based on (the following) five (principles):
1. To testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Muhammad is Allah's Apostle.
2. To offer the (compulsory congregational) prayers dutifully and perfectly.
3. To pay Zakat (i.e. obligatory charity) .
4. To perform Hajj. (i.e. Pilgrimage to Mecca)
5. To observe fast during the month of Ramadan.
Narrated Mus'ab:
Sa'd used to recommend five (statements) and mentioned that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) used to recommend it. (It was) "O Allah! I seek refuge with You from miserliness; and seek refuge with You from cowardice; and seek refuge with You from being sent back to geriatric old age; and I seek refuge with You from the affliction of this world (i.e., the affliction of Ad-Dajjal etc.); and seek refuge with You from the punishment of the grave."
Narrated Abu Huraira :
I heard the Prophet saying. "Five practices are characteristics of the Fitra: circumcision, shaving the pubic hair, cutting the moustaches short, clipping the nails, and depilating the hair of the armpits."

That would apply to being a better Muslim. I think it would take far more than five principles to improve upon that crazy-*** faith.
