Emmylou, PC world are talking out of their backsides. You are clever enough to check the sale of goods act which is good. I work for a retailer, if someone buys something from us, It is warrantied by us for 12 months by law. After that it does need to be taken up with the original supplier of manufacturer. Best thing to do is call or email the Citizens advice bureau, they can give you free advice on such matters. Hope this Helps

Yup PC world is like the mc donalds of the computer industry. Thing is, they have zillions of minimun wage staff that know hardly anything about computers or the companies policies. If you do get a refund, I would sugest going to a small computer shop, you get more value for money and because they have less customers they are more inclined to look after you and make sure you come back to buy more!

Unfortunatly pc goods and hardware are covered by a manufacturers warranty and not a store warranty, I worked for a small computer shop with the same policy and it can be very agitating. Im sure HP will deal with you in a more acceptable way. But PC world are known for being pretty unhelpfull. Its better to use smaller more personall buisneses for computers and hardware as they normally take much better care of their customers.

I had a nightmare with them, would never deal with them again, it is a shame that this message does not get through.
Deal with the little firm that you know, they WILL keep you happy (or do everything possible to try).
Gone are the days when big names that you recognised meant that they cared, now they have realised that you are a 'flea' to their 'Mammoth' and other than relieving you of your money (which they have already done), they have NO interest in you.
Shop elsewhere in future, learn from your mistakes!

I sympathise but agree with colleagues here, see the manager, be polite but firm and insist on a refund. Tell him the goods he sold were substandard.
If all else fails, and this one works I know :), slap a county court order on them ant that branch for the goods price plus £costs.
The will soon cough up!!!

I have had problems with PC World, too.
They do not want to know about problems, and are totally opposed to giving refunds.
Yes, as someone already recommended, check with Citizen's Advice.
Or get your local politician to make representations!

Go back to PC World & ask for either a replacement product OR a full refund......if they say no ask for the store managers name & inform him/her that you are going to contact your trading standards office........it should get things moving for you.......if PC World tell you they dont give cash refunds thats illegal cos you are entitled to cash refund or if you used credit card then refund to that.....ope this makes sense to you

I advice you to take them back straight away, and get an Apple Mac instead, the mac i recomend is the iMAC, its a great peace of equipment, and for the price you get a fantastic powerful machine that lasts for a very long time. so easy to use....
