Crystal, Scotch has not been used in the question or answers to describe the people, only the Whisky, and therefore correctly. AFAIK there is no English Whisky, or even whiskey, but there is Japanese, and they sell weird brands over here in Spain that I never heard of in the UK

As the word whisky means water of life I suppose the person who answered water is correct. However ours is more fun to drink .

The English & Welsh have cider and warm beer let not spoil them.

Can I just point out a wee sore point that us Scots have .... Scotch is to do with our whiskey but not Scottish people. The word is SCOTS not SCOTCH, when describing Scottish people. Just a stupid point that makes no difference what so ever to life but one that drives some Scottish people crazy a bit like us woman hating the toilet seat being left up!

Now I wont go off for a wee dram of whiskey as I hate the stuff
;-)

needs good clean water, but all the water in england I am led to believe is leaking away and the water companies are doing nothing about it. Although other CELTIC regions (and this is the key, being CELTIC that is not Ranngers enemy by the way) have it. See http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/cornwall/2992925.stm . So middle england no, they just have pims and gin

My neighbor is half Irish and half Scot.
His Irish half wants to drink whiskey, but his Scots half is too cheap to buy any.

I live in Kentucky (in the United States) It is the only place on the planet that is allowed to make distilled spirits and call it bourbon. Bourbon whiskey would be just whiskey anywhere else. Since it is made in Kentucky, we can call it bourbon.
