The prophetic Bible book of Daniel uses the designation "the king of the north" seven times, and discusses its opposer with the designation "the king of the south" eight times. This prophecy in Daniel includes changing identities for both "kings" over many centuries, and even extends into modern day and "the time of the end".
During the twentieth century, it seemed as though the British/American alliance could be identified with "the king of the south", while Nazi Germany and then Communist Russia each seemed to take its turn as "the king of the north".
(Daniel 11:40) And in the time of the end the king of the south will engage with him in a pushing, and against him the king of the north will storm
In particular, Jehovah's Witnesses have kept a keen eye on this prophecy's ongoing fulfillment throughout history. These bible scholars have not published any suggestions regarding the current or future identity of "the king of the north".
A few individuals have guessed that communist China or some Islamo-fascist alliance could fulfill the final prophecies associated with "the king of the north", but it seems premature and unwise to assume or teach these ideas until further events unfold.

“The King of the North.” Facts of history provide still another basis for determining how “north” is to be understood in some texts. A case in point is “the king of the north” mentioned in Daniel chapter 11. Historical evidence indicates that the “mighty king” of Daniel 11:3 was Alexander the Great. After Alexander’s death, the empire was eventually divided among his four generals. One of these generals, Seleucus Nicator, took Mesopotamia and Syria, this making him the ruler of territory situated N of Palestine. Another general, Ptolemy Lagus, gained control of Egypt, to the SW of Palestine. Therefore, with Seleucus Nicator and Ptolemy Lagus the long struggle between “the king of the north” and “the king of the south” began. However, the prophecy concerning “the king of the north” extends from the time of Seleucus Nicator down to “the time of the end.” (Da 11:40) Logically, then, the national and political identity of “the king of the north” would change in the course of history. But it would still be possible to determine his identity on the basis of what the prophecy said the “king of the north” would do.—See the book “Your Will Be Done on Earth,” 1958, pp. 220-307.

the current king of the south is the Anglo-American world power.
it is also the feet of the image spoken of at daniel 2. the identity of the king of the north is unknown at the moment, but as we are living in the time of the end it will not be long before a new king arises in opposition to the king of the south. and when that happens, armageddon and everlasting life shall not be far off

Ezekiel, a contemporary of Daniel, prophesied an attack on God’s people “in the final part of the days.” He said that the hostilities would be initiated by Gog of Magog, that is, by Satan the Devil. (Ezekiel 38:14, 16) Symbolically, from which direction does Gog come? “From the remotest parts of the north,” says Jehovah, through Ezekiel. (Ezekiel 38:15) However vicious this assault, it will not destroy Jehovah’s people. This dramatic encounter will result from a strategic move on Jehovah’s part to annihilate Gog’s forces. Thus, Jehovah says to Satan: “I shall certainly . . . put hooks in your jaws and bring you forth.” “I will . . . cause you to come up from the remotest parts of the north and bring you in upon the mountains of Israel.” (Ezekiel 38:4; 39:2)
Gog looks askance upon “a people gathered together out of the nations, one that is accumulating [spiritual] wealth and property.” (Ezekiel 38:12) Viewing the Christian spiritual estate as “open rural country” ripe for the taking, Gog makes a supreme effort to wipe out this obstacle to his total control of mankind. But he fails. (Ezekiel 38:11, 18; 39:4) When the kings of the earth, including the king of the north, attack Jehovah’s people, they will ‘come all the way to their end by Gods hand.

Achtung, why so cautious? Just ask the 'faithful and discreet slave' - since they have the inside track with the holy spirit, they don't have to wait to find out, they have 'amazing advance information'
*** w60 7/15 pp. 443-444 Staying Awake with the “Faithful and Discreet Slave” ***
"At the 1958 Divine Will International Assembly amazing advance information in connection with Daniel’s prophecy was given about events to occur in the immediate future. Such evidence of spiritual foresight is recorded for us in the book “Your Will Be Done on Earth.” Once again the “faithful and discreet slave” has been tipped off ahead of time for the guidance of all lovers of God."
And who tipped them off?

"...the “faithful and discreet slave” guided by Jehovah’s unerring spirit..."
So no need to wait and see....the f&ds was tipped off a long time ago by the Holy spirit and they revealed all this amazing prophetic info in the Your Will be Done book...well, at least that's what they said. Personally, I read it and I still don't know.
