Hello. I'm a freshman in college and I need some advice. I have no idea what to major in. Many of my interests are in the Liberal and Fine Arts field but I don't really have any of that 'natural talent' to pull off anything from there...
I really like creative writing. Would it be wise to major in English with a concentration on creative writing? I'm also interested in Art History. It seems like everything I'm interested in is highly 'unrealistic' (at least in my case.)
Should I give up on all of this and get a General Studies degree or should I go for what I'm interested in even if there aren't a lot of career opportunites?

I'm going to speak with advisors in the real world but I figured I'd give this a shot just for the hell of it.

It is my experience that most people, and employers do not care what your actual major is. The most important thing is that you graduate. Both majors are similar (English and Art History) in the way that they will not pigeon-hole you into one career.
Don't worry. Just choose something you like. There is always graduate school if you want to do something different.

I think you should choose a major you are interested in. That way, you will do best in terms of grades, fulfillment, etc. When it comes time to get a job afterwards, it does not really matter what major you had.

That is, unless you have a specific career in mind... but then you would't be asking this question.

Do you want a career at the end of all this or do you want to 'fulfill' youself at college?

I assume they have guidance counsellors at your college? Why not ask one of them instead of relying on the 'kindness of strangers' here?
