Right click the picture and go to "Format Picture". WIthin the "Layout" tab, select "In Front of Text" - see if that works...

Sometimes, Word get's a bit screwed up with displaying pictures, but usually, doing what I suggested above works for me

Sometimes it hasn't got enough memory to display it but if you go into print preview it shows the whole page, and usually gives you and idea of the picture and where it is on the document

could either be the picture file size is too large , in terms of kb or mb...so you may have to wait a little while before the pc registers that there is an image there...

or sometimes the viewing (70% or 80% or 100%) variations may cause some distortions in what you see. Applies to some "underlines" too...

Mine does that too. If you click on the picture it usually appears though. Perhaps it's because Word is meant for words not pictures lol ;)

Go to "Tools" -> "Option" in "View" tab under "Print and web layout options" check the "Drawings" option click ok and you have done

It sounds like you have this option selected, or the pictures are too large to display. (Maybe they need resizing)
