Is it worth the drive from Waikiki to go see? What other beaches should I check out too while I'm vacationing?

Lanikai was once rank by The Travel Channel as the Best Beach in the World. Beautiful sand and blue ocean. The beach can be accessed through right-of-ways along private properties. The shoreline properties are well over $1 million. Parking can be a problem since Lanakai is a residential subdivision and you'll have to find parking on the street. Kailua Beach Park is just to the left of Lanakai and also has a similar beautiful beach. But of course its crowded with wind surfers and beach goers since this beach is easily accessable. The properties on the beach are way up there in price, about $10 million. Two big time celebrities just paid $25 million for two adjoining lots on the beach. Check out this website. It has a house to rent on Lanikai beach but just check it out for the beach photos. http://www.hibeach.com/Nani%20Lanikai/nanilanikai.html

There are nice beaches all over. Be sure to check with the lifeguards if the water conditions are okay. Be aware of high surf, current, sudden underwater drop offs, jellyfish and coral or rocks. Waikiki is the safest beach. Just be safe and you'll have a wonderful time.

It's gorgeous - but there are lots of beaches that are worth the drive.

But personally, I'm not a huge fan of Waikiki itself. That's why I go to Maui instead - I love staying on Kaanapali beach.

Yes I have, no I don't think it's worth the drive unless you really want to. If it is a question of spending the time doing something else or drive to Lanikai, it's probably better to spend your vacation doing the something else.

some of these may be local names and not on maps so ask around.

I like sherwood forest. lost films there a lot --it's evergreen trees and pretty wild still.

lanikai is beautiful. windy.

blowhole is rocky and pretty.

I also like the beach across the street from ala moana mall. lots of family.

have fun!
