So much pain I can't lift my head from the pillow cause the release pressure is too painful. I've just come to relalise the importance of a decent bed, seems I have another 40 odd years of sleep ahead of me. any advice?

A website address for special pillows would be nice.

Actually you can all stop with the Dumbo jokes, they ain't that big, not massive or anything just a little bulky.

try those head supports that people use when they are sleeping on air planes, you know the ones you wrap around your neck.

They support your head away from the pillow / chair and that means that your ears wouldn't be resting on anything. It's not a problem because of the size but because of the bones rubbing awkwardly against your head. I have the same problem and I have tiny ears!!!

the support helps but alternatively, if you are really concerned, ask the doctor for sleeping tablets or an operation for pinning them back.

don't listen to the dumbo comment - if anything they seem to be the dumbo! xx

I don't think it's the size of your ears that is the problem, I get this too and I don't have particularly big ears. When I lift my head off the pillow I have to immediately cover my ear with my hand and then release it gradually. Is this the same for you? I'm afraid I don't have a solution for you though, I've never been to the doctor about it. I've always thought it was a perforated ear drum or similar although I don't suffer in planes. Sorry I can't help further, but I really think that size isn't the issue.

I don't have big ears and that happens to me when I am veeery tired and sleep in the same position ALL night without moving. Buy an ergonomic pillow and try changing positions during the night.

Visit your doctor.

But alternatives are taking some pain killers before bed, remove any ear-rings you may have in them before lying down, wear a hair or sweatband around your ears (like rugby players) to stop folding them over whilst in bed.

But get them checked out

I think you need good support pillow, nothing to do with size of your ears.
